Why a Coach?
One of the greatest missed opportunities individuals forget to take advantage of in life is working with a coach. Many of us have spent tens of thousands of dollars and hours on an education taught and trained by teachers and coaches to prepare us for our professions. Yet, once in the work place, we rarely consider getting a coach or trainer to help us improve our professional skills. Too often we just let the school of hard knocks train us.
For many years I did the same thing. I was a good speaker - at least that is what my friends told me....and I believed them. That all changed when I stated preparing to compete for the World Championships of Public Speaking. After years of self-learning I finally invested in myself by hiring 9 different coaches over the course of two years. One for speech writing. Another for speech development. A voice coach. An acting and stage presence trainer. A visualization and inspirational coach. Even an Image Consultant (Boy, did I need her!) I spent over $10,000 and drove thousands of miles to learn from the very best including working with past finalist and World Champions.
Those coaches took me from good speaker to a great speaker. If you want to be at the top of your game, you need to invest in yourself and get a coach.
